The Chicago Cubs (3-1) have gotten off to a good start this season, but it would be even sweeter if they could guarantee two straight series victories to start the year with a win over the Brewers tonight. Remember, the Brewers are not only scheduled to face the Cubs eight more times *this month*, but they’re also the projected favorites in the NL Central by most analytic forecasts (I still think the Cubs have way more upside and general talent, but they do probably have a lower floor and run a greater risk of a midseason selloff).
In any case, it all continues tonight as Adbert Alzolay and the Cubs take on Freddy Peralta and the Brewers at Wrigley Field. It’s Alzolay’s 2021 debut and he’s looking to secure a spot in this Cubs rotation for years to come.
Craig Kimbrel should be ready and available tonight, if the Cubs get to the later innings with a lead, but Josh Hader (now throwing 100 MPH?) is probably good to go, too, even if Devil Williams may not be (he threw 22 pitches last night, so I’m guessing not). Needless to say, you never want to head to the late innings without a lead, but especially against Milwaukee.
Win tonight and you win the series. Let’s go, Cubs.
