You don’t want to see anyone get hurt, but that’s especially true for beloved former Cubs. It is impossible not to like Dexter Fowler, and I was really rooting for him to have a great year with the Angels after finally being traded by the Cardinals.
But now I’m afraid he won’t get a chance.
Fowler had to be carted off the field after this play at second base:

This is the play where Dexter Fowler hurt himself. He was on the ground for several minutes before being taken off on a cart.

That’s one of those scary, non-contact-type injuries. I really hope it was not as bad as it looked, or as bad as Fowler reacted, or as bad as it seemed when Fowler was being carted off:

UPDATE: It turns out Fowler is expected to be OK. As bad as it looked, the initial indication is that it’s just a contusion, and Fowler might not even need an IL stint. Thank goodness!
UPDATE 2: Actually, the initial diagnosis was just flat out wrong, and the injury is what it initially looked like: a torn ACL.
