A win tonight at Wrigley Field would drag the New York Mets back to .500 while pulling the Chicago Cubs back *up* to .500. It would also result in the Cubs’ first series sweep of the season. And I want that. Very much.
The Cubs have already lucked out a bit, missing Jacob deGrom (by request) and Marcus Stroman this series (by chance), but Trevor Williams will still have to bring it.
Fortunately, he bounced back a bit in his last start (which came against the Braves), settling somewhere in-between his impressive Cubs debut against the Brewers, which was even better than it looks in hindsight (6.0 IP, 2H, 2ER, 2BB, 6Ks), and his disastrous follow-up against the Pirates (3.1 IP, 5ER, 2BB, 3Ks). And that’s probably where Williams belongs … 5-6 innings, a few runs allowed, not a ton of strikeouts, but not too many walks, either. Let’s see if he can get it done.
Go Cubs. Now with 100% more Nico.
