Hey, now. That’s four wins in a row, and the Cubs are back over .500. Just sayin’.
For the second time in three days, the Cubs’ offense erupted into an absolute facemelt of a performance. Brett Anderson probably wasn’t right from the get-go, but the Cubs had an advantage and were freaking relentless. By the end of it, every starting position player had gotten in on the fun, and there were almost too many big days to recount.
Anthony Rizzo, Javy Báez, Jake Marisnick, and Willson Contreras all went deep today, Kris Bryant ripped the ball before he was pulled to rest, Nico Hoerner had three hits (including two doubles) in his first start of the year, and the Cubs set a Statcast Era record (since 2015) for most batted balls over 102 mph (16(!) of them!). Rocket after rocket after rocket.

The offense was so good that Kyle Hendricks got to bat, and strike out, three times. The offense was so good that reliever Kyle Ryan took an at bat.
Meanwhile, it was a nice bounce-back performance for Kyle Hendricks, against whom the only damage was in the 6th inning, after the game was long decided, and he was pounding the strike zone.
