There was a chance (a hope?) that Brewers stud Christian Yelich would be back for them today against the Cubs, but that isn’t happening.
Instead, things are not even improving with Yelich’s back issue:
The Brewers sent Christian Yelich back to Milwaukee for an MRI of his back. "With Christian, we've unfortunately hit a bit of a plateau here," Craig Counsell said.

Without Yelich, the Brewers’ already-scuffling offense is going to have an even more difficult time supporting what is clearly a very strong pitching staff. The Brewers are fortunate to have signed Jackie Bradley, Jr. late in the offseason, and to have Billy McKinney going from a bounce-around waiver guy to someone who has really contributed so far.
Yelich’s retroactive IL stint started a week ago, and the efforts have been to just get him back into a stable place. His frustration has been obvious, as this is something he’s dealt with before, but likely not to this extent:
