Not that I’m in the business of hurling pity on the Milwaukee Brewers, but I also don’t want to see jaw-droppingly wrong calls left to stand.
This play resulted in a SAFE call:

Pitcher Zack Godley was called for interference there (goes down as an error), getting in the way of the runner after he’d tossed the ball to first. The problem? Not only did Godley not actually interfere, but also the runner was INSIDE the base line at the point of “interference.” You see that lane to the right of the baseline? Yeah, that’s where he’s supposed to be if he wants the benefit of these types of calls.
So that was just a doubly wrong call, and almost impossible to understand how it gets made in the first place. The call wound up yielding an additional run for the Marlins later in the inning.
I mean, I’m laughing a bit. But also, just such a bad call.
