The Cubs jumped all over Clayton Kershaw in the first-half of today’s 7.0 inning double-header, forcing the Dodgers to four pitches. Kyle Hendricks, by contrast, kept the Cubs bullpen sitting while becoming the first Cubs starter to go 7.0 innings this season.
His shutout was spoiled by a homer, but it did lead to this excellent moment:
Absolutely amazing moment, when a dad taught his son what we do with HR balls from the other teams at Wrigley Field. #Cubs pic.twitter.com/tftgHTXWN7

But while it’s nice to have one win in the bank, the Cubs job isn’t going to get any easier. Trevor Bauer is up for the Dodgers next and he’ll square up against Keegan Thompson and every available arm in the Cubs ‘pen, if I had to guess (including 27th man Kohl Stewart).
Let’s see if the Cubs can guarantee a series win against the Dodgers by finishing the double-header sweep tonight (gosh, this would be so nice).
