Zach Davies and Kyle Hendricks are two pitchers cut from the same cloth. And both of them have struggled quite a bit more than anyone would’ve reasonably expected relative to their skillset and track record. That is, until Tuesday, of course, when Hendricks went 7.0 innings against the Dodgers allowing only a meaningless solo shot when the Cubs were up by seven runs with two outs to go. Hopefully, then, these two guys remain on parallel tracks and Davies turns up big for the Cubs this afternoon.
He hasn’t completed the fifth inning since his first start of the year and lasted just 1.2 innings against the Pirates on April 10th (1.2 IP, 5H, 7ER, 3BB, 2Ks). There’s really not much more ground beneath him, so … the only way is up, right?
Go Cubs.
