The Chicago Cubs are back in action, following a three-game losing streak with two off-days built into the middle. Suffice it to say, a win tonight (against one of the worst teams in MLB) would really be nice. Fortunately, it’s JAKE DAY(!) and the Cubs are beginning to heal up. Check out David Ross’ lineup for the first game against the Tigers in Detroit (that means it’s DH time).
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
1. Willson Contreras, C
2. Kris Bryant, CF
3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
4. Javy Baez, SS
5. David Bote, DH
6. Joc Pederson, LF
7. Matt Duffy, 3B
8. Nico Hoerner, 2B
9. Jason Heyward, RF
Nico Hoerner just came off the injured list today and is immediately back in the starting lineup against a lefty tonight. And with the DH available, the Cubs are able to keep him at second base (where his glove is a huge upgrade over any of the Cubs other options there), while also keeping David Bote, DH, and Matt Duffy, 3B, in the lineup. Of course, that requires Kris Bryant to play center field (Hey, nice to see that he’s back too!), which he can do because he’s pretty good at playing the baseball. Â
Joc Pederson has been making some quality contact lately – he’s racking up the hits – and he’ll get another start against a lefty tonight. As usual, we’ll have your first Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:10 CT).
