How beautiful was that 9th inning? Craig Kimbrel just blowing fools away. That was awesome. I knew he’d be back on the bump soon!
Kris Bryant returned to the lineup with a two-run shot, Joc Pederson stayed singles-hot, and the Cubs had as many RISP hits in a two-batter span (Anthony Rizzo double, Javy Báez single) as they did in 27 tries in Cleveland.
Jake Arrieta cruised through 5.2 innings in his return from the IL, but he threw two especially bad pitches in that 6th inning and gave up back-to-back homers. With just one strikeout, it was a lot of balls in play to allow no damage, so I suppose it was going to happen eventually. It still wound up a quality start, and he was mostly working down in the zone very successfully on the night.
