Man, the Cubs really shoulda won yesterday’s game. This was a very sweepable series. I probably shouldn’t lead off with that, because a series win is a series win … but it sticks in my craw a bit, given how the Cubs smoothly won on Friday and smoothly won today.
Anyway, Kyle Hendricks absolutely cruised in this one, although he gave up a couple singles to open the 9th inning, which prevented him from finishing out the shutout. Dan Winkler came in to get a couple grounders (including a reviewed double play on the final play) to finish it up.
Oh, wait, as I type this, they actually overturned the double play – which was garbage, because the original call was out, and the replay was close enough that it should have stood (was he *probably* safe? Yeah, but that’s not the replay standard!) – so now Hendricks got a run on his tally. Lame.
