There was so much goodness to enjoy from Kyle Schwarber and Jon Lester’s return to Wrigley Field, and I’d wondered before the game whether Anthony Rizzo might troll Lester by bunting one to the famously dicey-fielding pitcher. That wasn’t in the plan, but you knew Rizzo couldn’t make it an entire game without giving Lester the business somehow.
Turns out, Rizzo actually got his chance when Lester was batting, retiring the lefty on a bouncer to first – with Rizzo refusing to move as Lester sprinted to first:
Rizzo’s extreme chill factor there – “I’m in no rush with this guy running” – was not lost on Lester. Did you catch what he said to Rizzo as he walked away from first? In case you did:
