Cubs reliever Jason Adam, currently assigned to Triple-A, was injured during batting practice today, according to the Des Moines Register.
There aren’t a lot of details at the moment, other than it was an ankle injury, but an ambulance was called and Adam left on a stretcher:

I won’t speculate until we have more information, but the main hope for now is that Adam is going to be OK long-term. Any time you’re talking about ambulances and stretchers, that’s awfully scary. Adams, 29, has been an up-and-down guy for the Cubs the last couple years, flashing exceptional stuff, but battling his command.
UPDATE: When you hear about an ankle injury that required an ambulance, unfortunately this is exactly what you fear:
"I was sad, sick and somber." Iowa manager Marty Pevey says that pitcher Jason Adam suffered an "open dislocation of the ankle." https://t.co/TRNjsdI4QR

Obviously Adams will be missing a lot of time, but again, you just hope he’s OK in terms of real-life health. The baseball-related health comes second.
