Anthony Rizzo Gives the Cubs the Lead with a Two-Run, Opposite Field Double

Chicago Cubs

Anthony Rizzo finally returned to the Cubs lineup yesterday after missing a handful of games with a lower back strain. But it sure doesn’t feel like he missed any time. Because after notching two hits yesterday, he’s got another two today, including this opposite-field, 2 RBI double that gave the Cubs the lead.

It was 101 MPH off the bat, and traveled 336 feet the other way:

Why do teams keep bringing in lefties to face Rizzo?

They’ve been doing it since 2014, even though it doesn’t work because of how close he stands to the plate and his bat speed and his general awesomeness. And, heck, he was slashing .370/.444/.478 against them this season BEFORE this plate appearance. Ah, well. Not our problem.
