Three years ago, the Cubs effectively chose Yu Darvish over Jake Arrieta. This past offseason, they revealed the crossed fingers behind their back, shipping Darvish (and Victor Caratini) to the Padres while signing Arrieta out of free agency.

And today, these two starters meet in San Diego for a rubber match that could be a HUGE win for the Cubs if they’re able to get it done (the difference between a 3-4 road trip against the Giants and Padres and a 2-5 road trip just feels really big, especially given how well the Brewers have been playing lately). It would also be nice to be 5-1 against the mighty Padres this year.
