I was driving for the entirety of today’s game except the 9th inning, so I wasn’t able to follow along as closely as usual, but I’m pleased to see they’ve developed a keen ability to get crushed in a series … and win the finale to avoid the sweep. Alec Mills kept things scoreless by keeping the Marlins on the ground, and then the Cubs went the wonderful Tepera-Chafin-Kimbrel trio to hold the line.
The Cubs finally broke their scoring-only-via-homers streak, which started after last Sunday’s game, so it nearly lasted a week. That first run came on a passed ball, though, so, uh, it feels a little less sexy than a bases-clearing double to the gap or whatever.
