Just dutifully noting that Kyle Schwarber hit ANOTHER couple homers, and he’s now hit 11 in his last 11 games, and 8 in his last 5 games (and 12 in his last 13, depending on which strikes you as more impressive).
He’s also breaking records so quickly that the Stats account can’t keep up:
To clarify, he now has 12 after his second HR tonight (nobody had more than 10 prior to this).

Schwarber, who is up to a .245/.330/.544 (133 wRC+) line on the season despite his rough start to the year, is highly likely to be the player of the month in June. Good for him. Everything I said before about his success relative to the Cubs’ decision to go with Joc Pederson still stands. We can’t know what Schwarber would’ve been doing with the Cubs (even if some of us were still “buyers” on his future), we can’t know if something is clicking precisely because he got into a different organization, and we can’t know if this homer binge is a bit flukey and won’t sustain.
Rarified air for Schwarber, by the way:

So, yeah, pretty awesome for Schwarber. But, uh, I’ll absolve any Cubs fan who is, at this moment, feeling bummed about seeing Schwarber be one of the top national stories while in a Nationals jersey …
It makes me feel very fine and good and happy to see Kyle Schwarber as the hottest hitter in baseball, having an outrageously good June for another team. pic.twitter.com/2fdqbsmS8A
