Oh hellllllll yessssssssss. The earlier injury updates left it very wide open whether Nico Hoerner would be starting his rehab assignment (hamstring) any time soon, so I’d kinda mentally parked myself as hoping for early July.
BUT IT’S ACTUALLY STARTING TOMORROW:
Nico Hoerner will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa tomorrow. #Cubs

Hoerner, who had been hitting a wonderful .338/.405/.432 with solid peripherals when he went down a month ago, might play a partial game on Sunday, then rest a day, and then a full game on Tuesday. That is often how these things go, and then you kinda see how the hamstring is responding, and how game-ready the bat seems. It’s entirely possible that Hoerner could spend as much as a week at Iowa, or as little as just a few games. This is great, great news.
Funny thing? This rehab assignment will actually mark Hoerner’s FIRST appearance at Triple-A Iowa, thanks to his funky development trajectory.
