Major League Baseball today placed Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer on Administrative Leave while the league (and the police and prosecutor) investigate the allegations contained within a request for a temporary restraining order from a woman who says Bauer abused her. You can read the details on the allegations here at The Athletic and/or here at ESPN, but if you haven’t read them yet, be advised, they are graphic and disturbing.

The leave is officially for seven days, but it can be extended if the investigation merits it. Why this didn’t happen two days ago, I don’t quite know. I also don’t know whether Bauer will pitch again for the Dodgers, who are currently in Washington DC to visit the White House.
