If the Cubs lose today’s game, they’d fall a half-game behind the Reds in the division and remain only a half-game ahead of the Cardinals, depending on their day. That is … quite a fall from a couple weeks ago. Alas. Plans change. Or, well, I guess May was plans changing. Maybe this is going back to the original plan.
Regardless of what happens the rest of the way, the success (or rather, development) of Adbert Alzolay remains hugely important for 2022 and beyond. So let’s hope he continues to demonstrate his ability to be a mid-rotation starter (with some upside) next season and beyond. Go Cubs.
