The Chicago Cubs are plummeting in the standings, but that won’t keep them from getting some more national exposure.
Specifically, ESPN today announced that their Sunday, August 8 series finale against the White Sox has been picked up for Sunday Night Baseball. Not only that, it’s going to be on ABC rather than ESPN:
⚾️Schedule news: for the first time, Sunday Night Baseball will air exclusively on ABC, August 8, as the @WhiteSox visit the @Cubs. #Chicago

Presumably by then, the Cubs will have sold off at the deadline and could be even worse than they are now, while the White Sox will be cruising atop the AL Central standings, having gotten back key injured outfielders, having added at the deadline, and having thrived under the tutelage of Tony La Russa somehow.
That, uh, will be a fun game to watch.
