Chicago Cubs Lineup: Anthony Rizzo Leads Off as Willson Contreras Gets Some Rest

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are going for the sweet in Arizona. STOP THE TRADES! (I kid, I kid). Here is David Ross’ lineup for the finale, featuring the second leadoff man in a post-Joc Pederson world.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

1. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
2. Kris Bryant, LF
3. Javy Báez, SS
4. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
5. Jason Heyward, RF
6. Jake Marisnick, CF
7. Nico Hoerner, 2B
8. Robinson Chirinos, C
9. Zach Davies, P

Merrill Kelly is starting for the Diamondbacks this afternoon, and although he’s right-handed, fellow righties (.346 wOBA) have hit him far better than lefties this year (.284 wOBA). With that said, righties strike out more and walk less, but they make a lot more contact and hit for much more power. Just something to remember as you’re enjoying this finale.

As for the batting order, Anthony Rizzo is back at the leadoff spot. However, I think that’s a product of Willson Contreras not being in the lineup (as opposed to David Ross actually committing to him there). Contreras is likely just getting regular rest. Beyond that, your outfield consists of Kris Bryant, Jake Marisnick, and Jason Heyward from left to right.

Nico Hoerner is at second base and Robinson Chirinos is behind the plate.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (3:10 CT).
