Well, brace yourselves, because Kris Bryant “is” evidently available off the bench tonight. Or so says David Ross, who sometimes cannot be trusted (because their are often greater organizational advantages to keeping things close to the vest):
So again with the "is," and I do expect that's correct for tonight's game. But the language here on tomorrow is a little more flabby ("goal"), so I guess we'll see if he ACTUALLY starts tomorrow. This is exhausting. https://t.co/Ro7AYzK5NG

I suppose we’ll see.
In the meantime, the Cubs (7-4 against St. Louis this season) still have the better of the Cardinals this year, but if they lose tonight, they’ll be two games behind them in the standings and three games below .500 for the first time since the beginning of May. By contrast, if the Cubs win, both teams will be tied at a game below .500. None of it matters, Eat at Arby’s, etc., but I still want to beat the Cardinals.
So, you know … Go Cubs.
Oh, one last thing: Adbert Alzolay has made one start against the Cardinals this year, and it was his best of the season: 7.0 IP, 5H, 2ER, 0BB, 6Ks. Let’s see some more of that, kid.
