The vaccinations against COVID-19 are highly effective at preventing infection, and highly-highly effective at preventing serious illness or death due to the virus if you are among the rare breakthrough cases. I think that’s the most important thing I can mention here at the top, though right there alongside it is a hope that anyone who comes down with COVID-19 can safely get through it.
Unfortunately, the Brewers have a breakthrough case, with symptoms:
Yelich will miss a minimum of 10 days. Peterson will miss a minimum of seven days.
Lorenzo Cain comes off the IL tonight to take one of those spots. Pablo Reyes also recalled from Triple-A Nashville.

Hopefully there is no outbreak from there, and hopefully, as all available data indicates, the vaccine will help Yelich’s symptoms remain minor.
In the meantime, the Brewers will play for a long time without one of their most important players, and you wonder if it will at all impact their approach at the Trade Deadline (not to cover for Yelich’s absence, specifically, but maybe just enough to push them to finish off a deal that they were on the fence about). The Brewers are 7.0 games up on the Reds, 8.0 games up on the Cardinals, and 8.5 games up on the Cubs.
