As near as I can recall, we’ve had only one game this year lost to a COVID postponement – the Yankees-Red Sox tilt that was supposed to be a spotlight game on the Thursday of the All-Star break.
But that might change tonight, after Trea Turner tested positive mid-game last night, and now there may be an outbreak:
Nationals-Phillies game tonight in jeopardy, sources tell @TheAthletic. Nationals dealing with COVID outbreak. Trea Turner tested positive yesterday.

The whole thing is bad for obvious reasons, but I’m sure it’s all the more challenging at a time when these teams are focused on Trade Deadline issues. An outbreak could really throw a wrench into things, to say nothing of just wanting people to be healthy and safe and vaccinated and all that stuff.
We’ll see what happens tonight.
UPDATE: No game:
Nationals-Phillies postponed, source tells @TheAthletic.

Hopefully the outbreak isn’t too significant, but there must be additional positives and/or a large number of guys undergoing contact tracing.
UPDATE 2: Oof. Really not good:
The Nationals and Phillies game has been postponed because of Washington’s covid outbreak, sources tell ESPN. Multiple players and coaches have tested positive today after Trea Turner did yesterday. Size of outbreak remains to be seen, but may wind up as biggest in MLB this year.
