2021 #BNBlogathon Check-In: Hour 4

Chicago Cubs

I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 40 hours straight, past MLB’s July 30 Trade Deadline and through the Cubs/Nationals game Friday night, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

Total Posts So Far:

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:

We’re just starting, but I reset the Cubs’ roster with my thoughts, we got the full accounting on the Joey Gallo trade, the reliever market is “flooded.” And as I type, the White Sox pick up Cesar Hernandez. And I think Brad Hand is about to go to the Blue Jays.

Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:

Well, the last recap was two years ago thanks to the pandemic, so strictly speaking, I could choose ALMOST ANYTHING. I guess I’ll go with the fact that people are actually about to make this dang thing happen:

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:

We’ll see. We’ll just see. I suspect a lot of trades are on the way, including some guys we will have to do long, slow waves goodbye. Just make it worth it, Jed.

Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:

Got my normal morning coffee, though I couldn’t live stream the walk:

Current Emotional Status:

Solid. The Cubs-trade-stuff will give me the ups and downs, I reckon, but for now, I got a great night’s sleep, and that’s setting me on a solid course.

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:

I wouldn’t call it strange, but I need to get it in somewhere as a heads up: so I’ll be on Marquee’s pre-game show today for a little Blogathon love at 12:25pm CT – make sure you watch! – and then I’m headed straight to the game. So I’ll probably be away from my computer for a decent chunk of the late morning and early afternoon. That means doing posts is going to be a challenge, though I’ll make it happen from my phone (and also, let’s be honest and thankful, getting assists from Michael).
