I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 40 hours straight, past MLB’s July 30 Trade Deadline and through the Cubs/Nationals game Friday night, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.
Here come the overnight hours. Always a challenge, but they’ll be all the more challenging this time because the SUPER hot sun today at the game really drained me, and then I’ve got the comedown from the Rizzo trade.

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:
The Nationals’ sell-off accelerated, with both Kyle Schwarber and Daniel Hudson going out the door. The Cubs-Mets footsie is still going on. Oh, and of course, the massive Max Scherzer and Trea Turner trade to the Dodgers is going down.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
I do find the Mets rumors fascinating, because they have been the most active inactive team. While so many others are making moves, they continue to do nothing. I assume that’s going to change, but clearly they’re waiting out the market.
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
It’s clearly a very deliberate pace, moving pieces bit by bit so as not to get too crunched right up to the deadline tomorrow. That said, I expected Craig Kimbrel to be moved by now. That’s not to say I have concerns that the Cubs won’t get a huge return (yet), but I’m surprised that a team hasn’t stepped up to finish things. I suspect the NL West teams fighting for Scherzer slowed things, and I hope the Cubs are ready to fill the gap now that that’s resolved.
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Doubled up during the last window, with a Starbucks triple shot thing, and now a Red Bull.
Current Emotional Status:
I’m still blocked. I know what the emotion will be, but I have a hard time articulating it. Fully feeling it. I suspect it’s because I know more is coming (specifically, Kris Bryant), and if I completely meltdown right now, I will have to go through it all over again in some form or fashion. Might as well hold out.
Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
Once again, it’s not my mind – it’s my colon. The giant helmet nachos are, uh, doing their thing. I am uncomfortable. Oh, I guess I’m also thinking about how I need to watch ‘Hereditary’ in a couple hours, because then it’s a guaran-dang-tee I won’t sleep.

All right. My buddy @jim_cooks just sent me late night cookies and milk, because he is awesome (give a follow!). That’s gonna help big time. Nobody mention a sugar crash. #BNBlogathon pic.twitter.com/PHyi8pTw0X

We already donated to the #BNBlogathon but another $44 seemed appropriate.
