That’s a series loss in Colorado, where the Rockies play exceptionally well. If the standings mattered, I’d probably point that out more forcefully. As it stands, it elicits a shrug.
It was another rough one for Jake Arrieta, where Coors was probably always going to be tough. Four runs through four innings, and that was it for him. The Cubs’ bats fought back to tie the game at four in the middle innings, but a two-run Trevor Story homer – his second of the day – off of Jake Jewell immediately thereafter wound up being the difference.
Rafael Ortega had another good day, and Frank Schwindel notched a couple hits. Willson Contreras hit a two-run double off the wall, threw out a runner stealing, and also picked a guy off third. There were some nice moments, but it’s a loss.
