Who needs Friday at 1:20 when you’ve got Thursday at 2:10?
Jake Arrieta is taking the mound for the Cubs today, in what will be his second start following his stint on the injured list. His first outing back against (what was left of) the Nationals was fine, but short: 4.0 IP, 7H, 2ER, 1BB, 3Ks. And with Zach Davies still around, Alec Mills showing out, Adbert Alzolay still working on stuff, Justin Steele coming up, and Keegan Thompson perhaps not too far behind him, I’m not sure how long for the rotation Arrieta will be. Then again, Thompson is further behind and Alzolay could be shut down at some point (just to limit his innings after 2020), so maybe we’re not quite nearing the end? Honestly, I’m not sure. And it’s not like the Cubs are exactly trying to win right now, so ….
Well that took a depressing turn. Go Cubs.
