The Cubs dropped the first-half of today’s twin billing, and now last night’s scheduled starter, Alec Mills, is set to take the ball in Game 2. He’ll square up against the lefty Aaron Ashby, as the Cubs look to avoid a six-game losing streak.
Mills has been pitching well lately, but tonight, he will face a LOT of lefties (Yelich, Narvaez, Escobar, Tellez, Peterson, and Bradley Jr.!), against whom he has had issues in the past. Progress has been made on that front since he joined the rotation, and he’s handling righties just fine, but we’ll need to see him continue down that path as the season enters its final stretch if he wants a permanent place in this rotation.
Go Cubs.
