Turns out David Ross DID spill the beans.
The Chicago Cubs’ manager, just prior to the highly-successful first ‘Field of Dreams’ Game, suggested that his team would be playing in Iowa – no joke intended – next year. And from there, a report in the Des Moines Register indicated that, yes, if there was a second ‘Field of Dreams’ Game, it would probably include the Cubs.
Now Gordon Wittenmyer reports it’s a done deal. It’s happening, it’s got a date, and the Cubs have an opponent:
Oh, people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come …
… And watch the Cubs and Reds on Aug. 11 in Iowa, reports @GDubCub: https://t.co/d3xz0T34k0

So start marking your calendars for next August 11.
The challenge for MLB – and, thus, the Cubs and the Reds – will be trying to come anywhere close to the perfection of the first ‘Field of Dreams’ Game, which had not only novelty going for it, but also two very good teams. I hope it’s a good event. I would love to enjoy that game with the Cubs involved. But, man, it’s just gonna be so hard not to get gobbled up by the shadow of the first game, almost by default.
