Most importantly here, both Rockies outfielders seem to have come out of this OK. So we can watch without any guilt: this outfield collision, and the fact that rookie Connor Joe held onto the ball, is ridiculous.
In the first inning, Frank Schwindel sent one to the gap in left center, and the two Rockies came together in the worst way:
Here was the really impressive Connor Joe catch on the Frank Schwindel drive in the first. I have no idea how he held onto this ball after the collision. Stayed in the game. pic.twitter.com/qmPEKB4dWR

How Joe held onto that ball, I have no idea. Full impact, spun all the way around, and down to the ground. Center fielder Sam Hilliard was so sure that Joe *wouldn’t* hold onto the ball that he was looking all around, frantically trying to find it. Otherwise, that was the kind of collision play that had inside-the-parker written all over it.
Great catch by Joe. Glad he’s OK.
