Game 2 of the series was rained out last night as storms swept through Chicago, but we’re back at it today with a double-header against the Rockies at Wrigley Field. Colorado is sticking with German Marquez for game one, but the Cubs are going with Zach Davies for the first one instead of last night’s scheduled starter, Justin Steele.
Speaking of Davies, the Cubs righty has gone 6.0 innings in each of his last two starts, allowing just a combined 4 earned runs between them … buuuuuut that’s not really the whole picture. His first start featured a scoreless six innings against the Marlins, while his next start against the Royals included four solo homers (so not only it not great overall, it also could’ve been a lot worse).
He's also got 29 hits and 9 walks over that stretch, which combines for an 8.25 ERA (8.09 FIP). Yikes.
