Injuries during pre-game warm-up activities are pretty rare. To the extent it does happen, it’s either because a guy was already dealing with something and was testing it out and just didn’t feel right, or it’s because of some freak thing during batting practice or shagging.
Here’s hoping David Bote, who already missed time this year with a freak dislocated shoulder, didn’t just suffer one of the latter injuries:

David Bote just went down with some kind of leg injury during BP. Not sure what happened but he was in serious pain and he limped into the clubhouse . pic.twitter.com/FPLsFOLQHT

More when we have it available. Bote was in the lineup batting 5th and playing second base, but you can safely bet that he’ll be swapped out now. He’s been going through such a down season that I had hoped he could put together a nice stretch to finish things up.
UPDATE: It’s a right ankle sprain, though the severity is not mentioned by the team for now:
David Bote was scratched with a right ankle sprain, Cubs say.
