Zach Davies has bounced back a bit since his blowup against the White Sox, with three straight decent (for him) outings. Though, to be fair, the matchups were all pretty juicy (like the one he has tonight against the Twins):
vs. Marlins: 6.0 IP, 4H, oER, 1BB, 7Ks
vs. Royals: 6.0 IP, 5H, 4ER, 1BB, 5Ks
Vs. Rockies: 4.2 IP, 3H, 2ER, 1BB, 6Ks
I like seeing the 18Ks to 3 BBs and you can do worse than 6ER over 16.2 IP with Davies. But I also feel like pointing out that he’s given up 6 homers over those three games and has allowed a ridiculous 12(!) homers over his last six starts combined. That is a ridiculous pace and he could end up among the leaders in MLB this year, with far fewer innings to his name. Not great.
Then again, the Twins are chasing the Cubs in the reverse standings, so … maybe keep it up for at least one more night.
