Although the COVID-19 vaccinations are safe and effective as one of the best tools against serious illness and continued spread of the virus, it shouldn’t be news by now that they are not a 100% guarantee that you will never be infected again. And if you are in a situation where you are tested frequently, it’s all the more possible that you could show up as a positive, even if vaccinated.
Thus, some news:
David Ross and Jed Hoyer have tested positive for COVID-19. Both are vaccinated. They’re feeling well and quarantined.

First and foremost, good that both were vaccinated already, as that dramatically reduces the risk of any seriously negative outcomes (the Cubs are mandating vaccinations for all non-players). Secondly, good that both are feeling well. And thirdly, good that testing catches this stuff, as you don’t want anyone spreading things further.
Each will presumably be able to continue working remotely, but Ross will not be able to be with the team in the dugout until he clears quarantine. Bench coach Andy Green will serve as the manager in the interim. As for Hoyer, hopefully he gets over this in time to conduct the in-person GM interviews he previously suggested he wants to do.
All the best to Hoyer and Ross, and anyone else around them. Hopefully they continue to feel well and kick this thing quickly.
