The Cubs keep the good times rolling, with a now five-game winning streak. Look, I know the wins aren’t “helping” anything, but you cannot deny that these have been fun. Today’s was ANOTHER crazy walk-off win, with Frank Schwindel sliding into first base, avoiding a tag, and driving in the winning run while he did it.
Schwindel also hit a titanic homer in the game:

Kyle Hendricks was uncharacteristically wild in this one, giving up an early lead, and eventually getting pulled after WALKING IN a run and then PLUNKING IN a run. After his terrible last appearance, you just kinda wonder if he’s running out of steam on the year, when you consider the jump up from last year and the emotional toll that this season has taken on a guy like him. Not an excuse, because aging is also a concern. Just might be tough on him right now.
The bullpen was really solid from there, though, holding the deficit in place where the Cubs could come back.
