Wade Miley shut the Cubs out the last time he faced them in mid-August, with seven strikeouts and just one walk over 7.0 IP. But maybe this group will have some more luck with a lengthy winning streak on the line.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
1. Willson Contreras, C
2. Frank Schwindel, 1B
3. Ian Happ, CF
4. Patrick Wisdom, RF
5. Matt Duffy, 3B
6. David Bote, 2B
7. Alfonso Rivas, LF
8. Sergio Alcantara, SS
9. Adrian Sampson, P
With a lefty, Miley, on the mound tonight, it’s going to be Willson Contreras leading off instead of Rafael Ortega, who’s actually on the bench tonight. In his place, Ian Happ is covering center field, opening up left field for Patrick Wisdom, who was bumped onto the grass by David Bote, making his return to the starting lineup!
Sergio Alcantara will be his double-play partner up the middle, with the NL Player of the Week and August NL Rookie of the Month Frank “The Tank” Schwindel at first. I can’t believe I’m having this much fun with this Cubs team at this point in the year, but here I am … excited to see if they can extend this winning streak to 8 games and continue to spoil the Reds chances at the playoffs.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:40 CT).
