With apologies, tonight was a “drink some beers with a friend and only loosely follow the game” kind of Friday night.
I was vaguely aware of what was happening and how it was happening, but I wasn’t watching particularly closely until the 8th inning (when Rowan Wick was pretty clearly gassed but was still being leaned on heavily (I don’t really have any negative feelings toward him, because he’s been so awesome lately (but this is not the first time we’ve seen a pretty big fall-off for him this year after about 15/20 pitches, so it’s something to keep in mind))). The Cubs had a spoiler night going until then, but a four spot for the Brewers turned the night around.
I saw some of the positives in the highlights – Frank Schwindel just keeps on keeping on, Patrick Wisdom’s newfound hot streak continued, and a nice night for Alfonso Rivas – but all I got to watch was that 8th inning meltdown.
