I don’t know what’s crazier, the fact that the Cubs still have an 8.0 game lead over the Pirates in the reverse standings or the fact that the Cubs only have an 8.0 game lead over the Pirates in the reverse standings.
In fact, with their win over the Cubs last night, the Pirates just past the Cubs in the second-half standings.
Second-half of the 2021 MLB Season …
Cubs: 23-44 (.343)

Kyle Hendricks is on the mound for the Cubs tonight, coming off an improved outing against the Twins, albeit one that still leaves plenty to be desired: 5.2 IP, 5H, 4R, 3ER, 2HR, 0BB, 3Ks. The Twins have some thump, but they’re still not a great team and Hendricks has been on a slide for a good long time now. Hopefully, he can carve his way through the Pirates lineup tonight in what could be his final start of 2021. But don’t forget … they’ve pretty much crushed him this season.
The Pirates vs. Kyle Hendricks this season (four starts):
Pirates: .289/.359/.518 (.374 wOBA)
Hendricks: 7.45 ERA (19.1 IP)— Michael Cerami (@Michael_Cerami) September 29, 2021
Are the Cubs about to lose eight games in a row? Again?
