The American League is taking a break today/tonight, but there’s still plenty of playoff baseball to enjoy. First up, the Brewers (1-0) will look to take the Braves (0-1) to the brink before the series moves to Atlanta for Game 3 on Monday. And then later tonight, Kris Bryant and the 107-win Giants (1-0) will look to put Mookie Betts and the 106-win Dodgers up against the wall before that series moves to Los Angeles. Nobody is up for elimination yet, but after tonight, we could get close!
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Atlanta Braves – NLDS Game 1
The lefty Max Fried is on the mound for the Braves this afternoon, and although he’s actually carrying reverse splits for the season, Brewers Manager Craig Counsell has just two lefties in the lineup, leadoff man Kolten Wong and outfielder Christian Yelich (aside from Brandon Woodruff, who also bats left-handed).
Speaking of which, Brandon Woodruff is on the mound for the Brewers, following a dominant regular season in which he struck out 29.8% of the batters he faced (6th highest in MLB). He’ll start off against former Cub Jorge Soler.
Go Braves.

San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – NLDS Game 2
The Giants got off to a good start yesterday, sitting the Dodgers down with a 4-0 win at Oracle Park. Kris Bryant went 3-3 in that one, including a homer, naturally, and he’ll be back in there tonight against the left-hander Julio Urias.
Urias was stingy on the free passes this season (5.1%, 2nd lowest in MLB) with enough strikeouts to rank 7th in overall K/BB ratio among all starting pitchers. But he’ll go up against Kevin Gausman, who was an absolute revelation for the Giants this season, striking out 29.3% of batters with a 2.81 ERA to boot. Great season.
Go Giants.
