In the bottom of the 7th inning in Game 4 (last night), Dansby Swanson and Jorge Soler hit back-to-back home runs to give the Braves a lead they were able to hold onto for their third win of the series. Atlanta now leads Houston three games to one, with their first shot to end it all tonight at home. If they come up short, the series will move back to Houston.
Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves – World Series Game 5
•  Jorge Soler is slashing .240/.345/.600 (144 wRC+) with two homers in 25 ABs this postseason, and he’s leading off the game for the Braves tonight against the lefty, Framber Valdez. I wouldn’t hate the Cubs trying to reunite with Soler, an impending free agent, this winter. They could use some power (and probably a DH?) and he had a good end to the regular season and strong showing this October.
•  Valdez is making his second start of the World Series tonight. But the first one, which began with a Jorge Soler leadoff blast, did not go well: 2.0 IP, 8H, 5ER, 1BB, 2Ks.
•  The lefty, Tucker Davidson, is making his postseason debut for the Braves tonight, in what will be just the sixth big-league start of his career.
•  If the Astros win tonight, the series will shift back to Houston for the final two games.
