Another new coach to add to David Ross’s staff, with Daniel Moskos arriving as the new assistant pitching coach.
The scoop from Russell Dorsey:
Per sources, #Cubs hiring Daniel Moskos to be team’s assistant pitching coach.

The name struck me as vaguely familiar from the jump, and sure enough, it’s because he was the 4th overall pick (Pirates) back in 2007, and also wind up signing a minor league deal with the Cubs back in 2016.
In more recent years, Moskos has worked as a trainer at Driveline and a minor league pitching coach in the Yankees’ organization. He gets the promotion to the big league staff on the Cubs, and the Cubs port in another experienced mind from another organization.
The Cubs did not previously have an “assistant pitching coach,” so this is formally a new role on the team. That said, I am wondering if Moskos is effectively replacing Mike Borzello, the long time strategy coach who worked primarily on the pitching side. We’ll have more when the Cubs officially announce the move, but if it happens, it’ll make three of four new hitting or pitching coaches for the Cubs having been brought in from the outside (Greg Brown, Johnny Washington, and Moskos). Only pitching coach Tommy Hottovy would be a holdover among that group.
