Former long-time Cubs executive Jason McLeod has found a new home after departing the organization earlier this offseason.
McLeod is joining the Cubs-to-Dimondbacks pipeline started by Jared Porter and Jason Parks:
The DBacks have hired former Cubs executive Jason McLeod as special assistant to GM, sources tell @TheAthletic. McLeod, who left the Cubs when his contract expired in October, will contribute in a variety of areas. Played key role helping Cubs build farm system and win 2016 WS.

Porter, of course, had long since departed for the Mets GM job (which was short-lived), so I’m not implying that’s the connection here. That said, the Diamondbacks front office is run by Mike Hazen and Amiel Sawdaye, who would have had connections with McLeod going back to their shared days in Boston (way back before Jed Hoyer and McLeod left for the Padres, and then eventually came back together with the Cubs in late 2011).
All the best to McLeod with the Diamondbacks. He was a huge part of what the Cubs built up from 2011 on, and although everyone seemed to agree it was a time for a change, there’s nothing but well-wishes here.
