You may recall that, earlier this month, the long-time Iowa Cubs owners sold the team to Endeaver/Diamond Baseball Holdings, which is building out a portfolio of some of the top minor league teams in baseball. It’s very big news in the minor league baseball world, and for Iowa, it’s the first change in ownership in over two decades.
What we didn’t know is how the former owners decided to use some of the profits from the sale. This is pretty incredible:
Not a dry eye in the place when they told us. Single-most generous gesture I've ever seen. It was a really special moment.
A huge thank you to all those @sailor643 mentioned. Will never forget it. https://t.co/yKEuxgM4yv

That’s a huge chunk of money from the sale of a minor league team going straight to the employees who helped keep the organization going. And for some of those employees, that’s life-changing money right there. I am so impressed, and the former owners deserve all the credit in the world.
