In his latest show of just being an awesome dude, new Chicago Cubs pitcher Marcus Stroman started offering up an incentive to his fellow pitchers. Really for no reason other than he’s just being nice.
Look at this:
If you go over 160 innings with a 3.7 ERA or lower this season…I'll buy you a Rolex!

I’ll extend that offer to you as well my bro. Go earn you a Rolex! 🗣

Those aren’t crazy thresholds or anything either! Triston McKenzie, the 24-year-old Cleveland righty, is a long-time hot prospect who showed out in the short 2020 season before taking a step back in 2021 (4.95 ERA over 120.0 innings). So getting to 3.70/160 is gonna take some doing, but it is not even remotely out of the question. And Stroman just dropped there as a reply!
And then Touki Toussaint, another former top prospect, asked to get in on the action, Stroman was like, no problem. Toussaint, 25, was at a 4.50 ERA over his 50.0 big league innings with the Braves last year, so he’s also got some work to do. But nice to have a little extra incentive.
I just like Stroman a lot. And I like highlight this random nice stuff he’s out there doing (in the replies! sometimes read the replies!).
