Spring Training Games Have Been Officially Postponed by MLB

Chicago Cubs

The February 28 deadline for postponing any regular season games may still lie ahead of us, and but Spring Training games are not so lucky. It was already expected, but now it’s official, the first handful of Spring Training games have been officially postponed (through at least March 5).

For the Cubs, that means their opener against the Dodgers on February 26 all the way though their ninth scheduled game of the spring against the Brewers on March 5 are officially off. As of today, that leaves 25 more Cactus League games on the schedule, but I doubt very sincerely these will be the only games to be missed.

As a reminder, MLB plans to meet with the MLBPA every day next week, in hopes of getting a deal done by February 28. Unfortunately, without some so-far unprecedented movement from either side, that doesn’t quite look likely. Keep those fingers crossed.
