The Cubs are back in action this afternoon, taking on Michael Lorenzen (the Halos’ other two-way player), Shohei Ohtani, and the Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium. This game will be broadcast on Marquee and start at 3:10 CT (for all of Marquee’s perceived issues, I am grateful that we get to watch as many Spring Training games as we do now).
For the Cubs, Justin Steele will take the mound in his second spring training outing of the year, still looking to push his way into the starting rotation (not that it’ll matter much early on, when it’ll be all hands on deck no matter the role). The Cubs lineup is mostly a mix of bench players, part-time players, and Triple-A bubble types. The only true “starter” of the group is Patrick Wisdom, though I suspect we’ll see all of these guys in Chicago before the year is through (some as soon as Opening Day).
Andrelton Simmons is the DH. Spring Training or not, I just think that’s funny. Go Cubs.
