Pre-Gamin’: Rockies at Cubs (3:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

Brett got into today’s lineup decisions a bit earlier today, including the arrival and debut of SEIYA SUZUKI (whose projections make it very hard not to get excited), so I won’t dive too deeply into that here. I’ll just say that aside from a few injury-related decisions (Ian Happ at DH, Alfonso Rivas at first instead of Frank Schwindel), this could be something close to a “normal” lineup for the Cubs this year.

Sure, Andrelton Simmons will get regular starts at shortstop, but so will Nico Hoerner. And, yes, Patrick Wisdom will likely get the lion’s share of starts at third base, but Jonathan Villar is here for a reason. And, no, I don’t hope Jason Heyward gets many opportunities in center over Ortega/Hermosillo, but this lineup sure seems to suggest that he will. So I guess what I’m saying is, this basically is an everyday starting lineup for the Cubs, even if it’s not exactly their best nine, so to speak.

The game starts at 3:05 CT and will be televised on Marquee. Alec Mills is taking the bump, and continues to be on track for a spot in the starting rotation from Opening Day on. Go Cubs.
