We made it! The final spring training game of the season. After today, the Cubs will fly back to Chicago ahead of their home/season opener against the Brewers at Wrigley Field on Thursday. And, hey, at 11-6 heading into today, the Cubs cleaned up this spring! Take that, PECOTA.Â
Today’s final lineup has a few more regulars than you’ll typically see in the final Cactus League game, including Rafael Ortega, Clint Frazier, Patrick Wisdom, Alfonso Rivas, and Michael Hermosillo. With Wade Miley and Andrelton Simmons opening the year up on the IL, plus the two extra roster spots (only one of which the Cubs are committing to a pitcher), I believe all five guys should be on the active roster for Opening Day. And while that may seem obvious now, everyone above besides Patrick Wisdom was a clear threat NOT to make the team at one point or another.
Alright, that’s a wrap on this Cactus League season. No need to belabor it. Go Cubs and let’s get this regular season party started already.
